Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide critical BLS services. The EMT will ensure patient safety during transport and coordinate with emergency agencies while adhering to regulations and protocols. Join a team dedicated to transforming healthcare and supporting each other.
Our team members are the heart of what makes us better. At Hackensack Meridian Health, we help our patients live better, healthier lives — and we support one another to succeed. With a culture rooted in connection and collaboration, our employees are team members. Here, competitive benefits are just the beginning. It’s also about how we support each other and serve our community. Together, we keep improving — advancing our mission to transform healthcare and lead positive change.
The EMT provides Basic Life Support (BLS) services for emergency and non-emergency requests, assigned by the appropriate dispatch authority, in a timely and professional manner. Responsibilities include ensuring the safe and prompt transportation of patients, delivering care efficiently, and working in various environments, sometimes hazardous, while wearing PPE. The role requires critical thinking to assess, triage, communicate, treat, and transport patients of all ages in diverse settings such as emergency transport, standby, and special events.
The EMT must coordinate with other emergency agencies (police, fire, ALS) and healthcare providers in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Accurate patient care reports must be completed for each patient. Daily operational tasks support departmental functions. All actions must comply with New Jersey regulations (N.J.A.C. 8:40) and Hackensack Meridian Health protocols, policies, and procedures for BLS services.
