UC Health is hiring a full-time transport EMT to join our Mobile Care team!

Job Description

The Emergency Medical Technician will provide care for a diverse and multi-faceted patient population. They will work to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the appropriate level of patient care according to the approved scope of practice.

Unit Details

  • Specialized medical transport services for over 35 years.
  • Accredited in four levels of medical transport by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems.
  • Focus on transporting critically injured and sick patients, bringing UC Medical Center's care to the patient.

Responsibilities

  • Respond appropriately to different patient needs to ensure safe care.
  • Perform assessments, interventions, and evaluate care, addressing physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs.
  • Perform basic lifesaving skills, including CPR, airway management, AED use, bleeding control, trauma management, spine stabilization, splinting, cervical immobilization, extrication, and 12-lead EKG application.
  • Conduct point-of-care lab testing, interpret vital signs, and manage medications within scope.
  • Advocate for patients, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
  • Maintain current certifications and seek ongoing professional development.
  • Operate vehicles safely and secure them at all locations.
  • Keep accurate records promptly and thoroughly.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an EMT program.
  • Minimum one year of EMT experience; three years preferred.
  • Military medical/paramedicine experience considered.
  • Intra-facility transport experience preferred.

License & Certification:

  • Current Ohio EMT-B certification; National Registry preferred.
  • EVOC or equivalent during probation.
  • BLS (American Heart Association).
  • FEMA 100, 200 courses within probation.
  • Active, unrestricted Driver's License with no more than 4 points.
