Job Description

The Emergency Medical Technician will provide care for a diverse patient population, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care according to the scope of practice.

Unit Details

• Over 35 years providing specialized medical transport in the Greater Cincinnati area.
• Accredited in four levels of medical transport by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems.
• Specializes in transporting critically injured and sick patients, bringing UC Medical Center's care to the patient.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an EMT program required.
• One year of EMT experience preferred.
• Military medical/paramedicine experience considered.
• Intra-facility transport experience preferred.

License & Certification

• Current Ohio EMT-B certification required; National Registry preferred.
• EVOC or its equivalent during probation.
• BLS at the time of hire.
• FEMA 100, 200 courses within initial probation.
• Active, unrestricted Driver’s License with no more than 4 points.

Responsibilities

• Respond appropriately to patient needs, providing safe care.
• Perform assessments, interventions, and evaluations within scope.
• Execute basic lifesaving skills: CPR, airway management, AED, bleeding control, trauma management, spine stabilization, splinting, extrication, 12-lead EKG.
• Perform point of care lab testing, vital signs, medication management.
• Respect patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Maintain current licensures and certifications; pursue professional growth.
• Operate vehicles safely and secure vehicles at all times.
• Maintain accurate records promptly.
