Job summary

Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, AZ, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for the Emergency Room on a PRN schedule with 12-hour shifts. You will join a trauma III ED team delivering rapid assessment, stabilization and care to patients in crisis.

Ideal candidates have EMT-B certification, BLS, a high school diploma (or equivalent) with related coursework, strong critical thinking and the ability to perform under pressure.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of college preferred.
• Graduate of a program in discipline required.

Responsibilities

• Safely navigates ambulance to patient’s location.
• Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient’s history from available sources.
• Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including stabilization, monitoring and resuscitation.
• Contacts medical personnel, reports observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician or RN.
• Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.

Canyon Vista Medical Center 106 bed acute care hospital that strives to offer exceptional care to the Sierra Vista community. The Emergency Department (ED) at Canyon Vista Medical Center embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for the delivery of patient care. This 22-bed unit operates within a trauma III hospital setting, ensuring patients receive optimal medical attention and support.

How you'll contribute

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who excels in this role:

• Safely navigates ambulance to patient's location.
• Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
• Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to receiving medical facility.
• Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician or Registered Nurse.
• Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.

What we're looking for

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Required; Two years of college Preferred; Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Licenses: EMT-B Required
