Job description

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Pay Rate: $21 – $23 per hour (Pilot Program: $26 per hour). Location: 16‑70 Weirfield St., Ridgewood NY, 11385.

Employment Types: Full‑Time and Part‑Time available (Pilot Program: Full‑Time required). Schedule: 9–10 hour shifts. Full‑Time: 36–40 hours per week. Part‑Time: 20–24 hours per week. Pilot Program Requirement: Must be able to work available Pilot Program shifts.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with fellow EMTs and management to assure top tier patient care.
• Be flexible as emergency services operate on a 24‑hour clock; shift schedule may vary due to business nature.
• Remain up to date with current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses, and all certifications, licenses, and registrations.
• Conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner when dealing with patients, co‑workers, supervisors, and the public.
• Recognize and treat any medical condition with appropriate techniques, equipment, and knowledge of all State and County protocols.
• Provide top tier medical transport to medical facilities, assuming responsibility for medical care of the patient and carrying out established policies and procedures.
• Operate and drive the ambulance in accordance with safety policies and laws, showing due regard for all applicable State and Regional Regulations (DMV & DOH).
• Maintain rig cleanliness by stocking the rigs and taking ownership of your space.
• Gather patient billing information and appropriate billing signatures.
• Prepare and submit a pre‑hospital patient care report.
• Respond promptly to assignments as required by the Dispatch Center.
• Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid NY State EMT certification.
• Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification with American Heart Association or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull 125 lbs. or more.
• Successfully complete Physical Aptitude Test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s license (minimum 2 years) with an acceptable driving record.

Pilot Program Details

• Full‑Time: $26 per hour.
• Must be able to work available Pilot Program shifts.
• Must have all required certifications.
• Must be able to perform the additional duties and meet additional requirements to qualify and remain in the Pilot Program.
