Job description

Overview:

Under general supervision, perform tasks related to operating communication equipment for receiving, sending, and relaying information in response to Emergency/Non-emergency calls. Responsibilities include determining incident locations, providing Dispatch Life Support (DLS), maintaining documentation, dispatching EMS units, relaying operational info, and coordinating flights of Life Line helicopters. Perform related duties as assigned, all in alignment with our mission, values, and standards.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Functioning as an EMD-II
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • License: Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certified by NAED within 90 days of hire; Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC) or completion during orientation
  • Certifications: Obtain agent certification through Metro Aviation or applicable vendor upon hire
  • Preferred Experience: At least one year in a public safety emergency communication center and as a field provider
  • Preferred Licensure: State of Missouri EMT or EMT-P license; Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) within one year
  • Other Skills: Knowledge of communication policies, ability to work as part of a team, proficiency in call creation, quick decision-making, data entry, verbal comprehension, prioritization, and familiarity with flight areas and weather impacts on aviation
Working Conditions:

Must have patience, emotional stability, and ability to work under high stress. Work indoors with adequate conditions, with periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds, react quickly to emergencies, and possess good vision abilities. Equipment used includes radios, CAD consoles, computers, printers, headsets, and communication systems.
