Job summary

Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (Alaska) seeks an Emergency Management Specialist 2 to coordinate grant-funded disaster recovery and lead response efforts. The role supports the State Emergency Operations Center and coordinates communications across agencies.

Travel to disaster sites and remote communities is possible; the position requires a federal background check for base access and may involve varying conditions and wildlife exposure.

Qualifications

• One year of entry professional level experience mitigating against, preparing for, responding to, or recovering from emergencies, disasters, or terrorist events.
• Two years of entry professional level experience creating contingency plans, conducting exercises, or coordinating recovery from events.
• A bachelor's degree, in any field, from an accredited college; AND one year of entry professional level experience described above.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement grant-funded disaster recovery programs across the state.
• Participate in and lead disaster response and recovery operations.
• Support the State Emergency Operations Center.
• Manage emergency communications with local communities, inter-agency, and government entities.
• Deploy to affected communities during disasters to coordinate response efforts and support preparedness.
