Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or sixty credit hours from an accredited college in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Administration or related field.
• One year of experience developing emergency plans, designing and facilitating public safety training and exercises, and participating in emergency response and recovery operations.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred and three years of related experience.
• Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) designation within two years of hire; valid Michigan driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate between county, state and local agencies during emergencies.
• Assist in developing and updating the County Emergency Operations Plan, Hazard Mitigation Plan and Continuity of Operations Plan.
• Develop and deliver resources for citizens, first responders, businesses and educational institutions to enhance preparedness.
• Respond to emergencies affecting Macomb County and coordinate training and exercises.
• Advise first responders and agency partners on emergency management.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments for residential, business and governmental institutions.
