Job summary

Macomb County Government is seeking a part-time Emergency Management Specialist to coordinate with county, state, and local agencies during emergencies. You will assist in developing emergency and continuity plans, support the Emergency Operations Center, and help design training and exercises for staff and first responders.

The role involves public information activities, stakeholder outreach, and coordinating resources for preparedness.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or 60 credit hours in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Administration or related field.
• 1 year of experience developing emergency plans, designing and facilitating public safety training and exercises, and participating in emergency response and recovery operations.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3 years of related experience.
• PEM designation within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate between county, state and local agencies during emergencies.
• Assist in developing and updating emergency plans and continuity of operations plans.
• Operate the Macomb County Emergency Operations Center as needed.
• Develop and lead training and exercise programs for staff and first responders.
• Support public information campaigns and emergency communications.
