Job summary

Macomb County Government seeks an Emergency Management Specialist (Part-time) to coordinate between county, state and local agencies in emergencies. Assists with developing emergency plans and Continuity of Operations planning, and delivering resources to citizens, first responders, businesses and educational institutions to enhance preparedness.

The role supports training, public information campaigns and disaster communications, advising agencies and responding to emergencies as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or sixty (60) credit hours in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Administration or related field.
  • One year of experience developing emergency plans, designing and facilitating public safety training and exercises, and participating in emergency response and recovery operations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate between county, federal, state and local agencies during emergencies.
  • Develop and update County and local emergency plans (COOP, Hazard Mitigation).
  • Operate Macomb County Emergency Operations Center as needed.
  • Develop and coordinate training and exercise programs for emergency preparedness.
  • Advise first responders and agencies on emergency management programs.
