Job summary

The State of Alaska, Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, is recruiting for Emergency Management Specialist 1/2. The role supports statewide preparedness outreach, educational programs, and community resilience through clear communications and engaging public audiences.

Two levels are flexibly staffed with salary ranges listed; starting pay is determined by level and probation training.

Qualifications

• Two years of paraprofessional experience in emergency management, emergency response, natural resource management, planning, grant administration, or finance.
• An associate degree from an accredited college in emergency management or homeland security.
• A bachelor’s degree, in any field, from an accredited college.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Outreach Branch Chief in creating, developing, implementing, and administering statewide emergency management preparedness outreach and educational programs.
• Communicate complex information clearly through written and verbal channels; engage diverse public audiences through presentations and outreach.
• Design accessible, informative, and impactful preparedness materials that promote community resilience.
