Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks an Emergency Manager to oversee the district's all-hazards emergency management program, aligning with NIMS and state law. The role manages the EOC readiness, plans, exercises, and disaster cost recovery, and serves as the program liaison among partners.

Qualifications

• Must have comprehensive knowledge of emergency management principles and practices.
• Strong ability to write complex plans and technical documents.
• Experience leading exercises with senior leaders and coordinating across agencies.

Responsibilities

• Administer the division's all-hazards emergency management program and set program goals.
• Publish the division Emergency Operations Plan and related annexes.
• Develop planning standards and templates for crisis and emergency plans.
• Review school plans against standards and provide findings to principals.
• Lead continuity, mitigation, and recovery planning and cost documentation.
• Coordinate with city and regional partners for hazard mitigation and recovery.
