Job summary

MoDOT is seeking an on-call Emergency Maintenance Equipment Operator for the Salem Maintenance Facility. Responsibilities include snow removal operations and routine vehicle upkeep under direct supervision.

This position pays emergency wage rates during winter and emergency operations and requires a CDL (A or B) with interstate status, plus a background check and drug screen. Overtime and night work may be required.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• CDL Class A or B with no air brake restrictions and interstate status (EI or NI).
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials or to warn oncoming traffic.
• Cleans and performs routine maintenance on vehicles, equipment, buildings and grounds.
• Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Job description

This is an on-call position - hours will vary depending on weather events. This position is eligible for a temporary emergency operations adjustment of $3 per hour when handling winter/emergency operations activities.

Job Location:Salem Maintenance Facility

EMERGENCY WAGE RATES:

1st Season: $20.00 hourly

2nd and 3rd Season: $21.11 hourly

4th Season or more: $22.37 hourly

• Job requires outdoor work that involves exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment, including risk of physical injury from carrying out duties in heavy traffic areas, on or near heavy equipment or machinery, and with hazardous chemicals or materials.
