Job summary

MoDOT is seeking an on-call Emergency Wage Rate Equipment Operator for the Mexico Maintenance Facility to perform snow removal on Missouri roads during weather events. The role includes night work premium and season-based pay rates, with supervision and routine vehicle maintenance responsibilities.

Expect to operate plow trucks, apply ice control materials, and participate in safety and maintenance tasks. Night shifts and overtime may be required, with benefits and total compensation explained

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• CDL Class A or B with no air brake restrictions and interstate status (EI or NI).
• Registration in the FMCSA's Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials or to warn oncoming traffic.
• Cleans and performs routine maintenance on vehicles, equipment, buildings and grounds.
• Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

This is an on-call position - hours will vary depending on weather events. The hourly rate is dependent on area of operation and seasons plowing, with an additional $1 per hour for night work (7 p.m. - 7 a.m.).

EMERGENCY WAGE RATES:

• 1st Season - $23.00
• 2nd - 3rd Season - $24.11
• 4th Season - $25.37

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with no air brake restrictions and interstate status (either Excepted Interstate [EI] or Non-Excepted Interstate [NI]).
• Registration in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen

Special Working Conditions:

• Job may require overtime and night time work.
• Job requires outdoor work that involves exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment, including risk of physical injury from carrying out duties in heavy traffic
  areas, on or near heavy equipment or machinery, and with hazardous chemicals or materials
