Job summary

Orlando Health – Longwood Free Standing Emergency Department is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II. The MLS II evaluates blood and body fluids, performs analyses using automated and manual methods, and ensures high-quality laboratory results within established timeframes.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), an approved internship, Florida licensure as Medical Technologist, and 1+ year of related experience, with ASCP/AAB/AMT certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Successful completion of an approved clinical laboratory training internship.
• One (1) year minimum experience.
• Florida license as Medical Technologist certified in required specialty.
• National Certification such as ASCP/AAB/AMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimens for quality and preanalytical errors.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.
• Assists in training of new team members and students.
• Maintains compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
