Job summary

South Shore Generator, Inc. is seeking qualified Emergency Generator Technicians to join our SE Massachusetts team. You will perform maintenance and repairs on generators and transfer switches in the field, with on-call responsibilities and training provided for growth.

Ideal candidates have a clean driving record, basic computer skills, and ability to read prints and schematics. Physical work includes lifting up to 50 pounds and outdoor conditions year-round.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair of generators and transfer switches in the field.

• Complete service paperwork, document unit details, measurements, and photos.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and work in ladders, crawl spaces, and tight areas.
• Communicate clearly with customers and office about issues found.
• Respond to emergency service calls during and after hours as needed.
• Demonstrate independence, analytical thinking, and customer service.
• Maintain neat, organized work style and pursue continuous learning.
• Year-round outdoor work in varying conditions.

Requirements

• Clean driving record.
• T (ools for both electrical and mechanical needs.
• Competency in computers and technology.
• Ability to understand and read prints and schematics.
• Ability to procure a DOT health card and complete OSHA10 testing.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety rules and procedures, including basic maintenance safety principles, lockout/tag out procedures, and the usage of personal protective equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on generators and transfer switches in the field.
• Ensure proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment are maintained in the company vehicle.
• Complete all required paperwork at the end of each service call, including recording unit make/model/serial/fuel type, test measurements, and taking pictures as necessary.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and utilize additional manpower or appropriate devices for heavier items. The role may involve climbing ladders, working in small crawl spaces, and other physical tasks such as balancing and kneeling.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with customers and the office regarding any issues identified during service calls.
• Be available to respond to emergency service calls during normal business hours and after hours (on-call), as needed.
• Demonstrate the ability to work and think independently, possess an analytical mindset, exercise common sense, and deliver excellent customer service.
• Maintain a neat, clean, tidy, and organized work style.
• Display a willingness to invest in continuous learning to enhance talent levels.
