Job summary

Northfield Veterinary Center in Northfield, New Jersey is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join a hospital within the Ethos network. The role offers a ProSal structure with a base salary of $180K+ plus production, commensurate with experience, and a full-time permanent position.

You will deliver a blend of emergency and general care in a state-of-the-art facility offering dentistry, cardiology, surgery, ultrasound, and advanced diagnostics.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with licensure eligibility.
  • Rotating internship or emergency medicine experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage emergency cases in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong communication and compassionate client relations.
  • Commitment to teamwork and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a mix of general practice and emergency care.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent and emergent cases.
  • Stabilize critically ill patients using evidence-based medicine.

In your day-to-day, you will:

  • Provide a mix of general practice and emergency care, seeing wellness, sick, urgent, and critical patients.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients presenting with urgent and emergent medical conditions.
  • Provide comprehensive emergency care through a balanced mix of receiving new emergency cases, triaging incoming patients, and managing hospitalized patients throughout their course of treatment.
  • Perform emergency procedures and stabilize critically ill or injured patients using evidence-based medicine.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.

What You Bring

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
  • Completion of a rotating internship or experience practicing emergency medicine is preferred (or equivalent clinical experience).
  • Confidence managing emergency cases and making sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, and advancing emergency veterinary medicine.
