Job summary

The City of Slidell seeks a Communications Officer to provide essential 24/7 telecommunications support for the Slidell Police Department. You will be the first point of contact during emergencies, coordinating police, fire, and medical responses and ensuring clear, professional communication with callers and responders.

You will operate a multi‑line dispatch console, read maps and shares, relay vital information to units, maintain logs, and uphold confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old at employment.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with no suspensions.
• Must be a United States citizen.
• Must be proficient in reading and writing English.

Responsibilities

• Answer and manage 911 calls for police, fire, and medical emergencies.
• Determine incident nature and prioritize responses.
• Operate dispatch console with multiple radio frequencies, 911 lines, CAD, and NCIC systems.
• Broadcast BOLOs/APBs and coordinate with other agencies.
