Job summary

City of Madisonville seeks a Telecommunication Operator to handle emergency and non-emergency calls for the Central Dispatch. You will monitor multiple radio channels, dispatch the correct agency, and maintain detailed records of all communications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, with basic/annual training in telecommunication.
• One year of experience in police department or emergency services operating procedures, knowledge of local geography, and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch appropriate agencies.
• Monitor police, sheriff, fire and rescue radio; provide information and referrals as needed.
• Log incoming calls and dispatch information; query LINK/NCIC data and enter records.
• Maintain records, logs, and files; perform clerical tasks (typing, filing, copying).
• Enter information into in-house and LINK/NCIC systems and retrieve data as required.
• Handle daily fire pager tests and participate in severe weather drills and emergencies.
• Answer after-hours utility calls and contact on-call personnel.
• Look up phone numbers, maps, violation codes, and relevant laws.
• Operate equipment including computers, telephone, radio, 911 system, and related devices.
