Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a compassionate Emergency Department Technician to support high-acuity care at Hilton Head Hospital and Bluffton Freestanding ED. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered care, and collaboration with providers and nurses in fast-paced settings. Required CNA I with BLS; high school diploma is essential.

Experience in phlebotomy and EKG is highly desirable. The position is full-time with day and mid shifts, offering tuition reimbursement and growth opportunities

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One year Nurse Aide experience is preferred; basic patient care, phlebotomy and EKG in emergency or outpatient settings are highly desirable.
• CNA I is required; American Heart Association BLS is required, some departments may list additional CPR requirements.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
• Knowledge to modify care according to patient age and interpret information for age-specific needs.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient vital signs, height, weight, pain assessments and other clinical data.
• Assist providers and nurses with patient examinations, procedures and treatments.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens per hospital policy.
• Conduct EKGs and ensure prompt transmission of results.
• Assist with splinting, wound care, orthopedic procedures and other emergency interventions within scope of practice.
• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure equipment and supplies are available and operational.

Shift: Days/Mids rotation (7am-7pm and 11am-11pm)

What You'll Do
