Job summary

Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, NC seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will assist with personal care, feeding, and safety for patients of all ages, perform CPR, and help with specimen collection and basic testing.

Responsibilities include maintaining readiness of the work area, stocking supplies, and supporting EKG procedures as needed. Requires a high school diploma or GED, NC A I or EMT training, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Work requires graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
• Successful completion of the NCA I training as defined by the Division of Facility Services in the State of North Carolina or North Carolina EMT training.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patient care tasks under nursing staff direction.
• Assist with personal care, meal trays, intake/output, bathing, and comfort measures.
• Perform CPR and act as patient attendant for high-risk individuals.
• Prepare patients and supplies for procedures; assist as needed.
• Collect, deliver, and conduct routine tests on patient specimens.
• Escort or transport patients not requiring hemodynamic monitoring.
• Maintain readiness of the work area and stock supplies.
• Perform EKG tasks and support Heart Station operations.
• Operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment and manage lab specimens.
• Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein.
