Job summary

Effinghamschools Emergency Department is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to provide direct and indirect patient care, assist physicians and nurses, and support a fast-paced ED. The role includes phlebotomy, wound care, specimen collection, and coordination with the healthcare team, under supervision of nursing leadership.

Ideal candidates have high school education with phlebotomy and glucose testing training, and current BLS certification; EMT-1 licensure is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Formal phlebotomy and glucose testing training
• Licensed Emergency Technician preferred, BLS certification required
• 1 year EMS experience or 2 years medical environment experience

Responsibilities

• Participate in shift huddles and handoffs
• Follow infection control and safety standards
• Assist with patient care, wound care, and procedures
• Prepare sterile trays and dressings
• Collect specimens and perform basic lab tasks
• Transport supplies and patients as needed
• Keep rooms clean and stocked
• Document and communicate changes to staff
