Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Emergency Department Technician I to support patient care under RN supervision in a fast-paced ED environment. This role requires CNA or EMT certification, and involves taking vital signs, performing EKGs, assisting with procedures, monitoring telemetry, collecting specimens, and transporting patients.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma, EMT or CNA certification, phlebotomy certification for ED tech II, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• EMT or CNA certification required.
• Phlebotomy certification for ED tech II.
• BLS certification (AHA/Red Cross) required.
• Some experience in a medical setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs, height and weight.
• Performs EKGs.
• Assist physicians or nurses on all procedures.
• Monitors telemetry patients.
• Collects various specimens in the appropriate manner.
• Crutch training.
• Assist with ordering supplies.
• May perform Bladder Scans and insert Foley Catheters.
• Transport Patients.
