Job summary

Independence Health System is seeking a Nurse Extern under the direct supervision of an RN Preceptor. You will utilize the nursing process to deliver care, communicate with the health care team, and support patients and families with compassionate service.

Responsibilities include providing direct patient care, documenting interventions, assisting with ADLs, and ensuring safety and sanitation. Enrolment in an accredited RN program with good academic standing is required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program approved by the State Board of Nursing.
• If BSN student, entering senior year with medical/surgical clinical completed.
• If Diploma/Associate student, entering final year of nursing school.
• Must provide continued enrollment proof and maintain good academic standing.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under RN preceptor using an interdisciplinary approach.
• Perform nursing interventions and document per policy, ensuring patient safety.
• Assist with ADLs, ambulation, turning, positioning, and transporting patients.
• Demonstrate professional behavior and strong customer service with the health team.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.

Education

Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program

Entering senior year (BSN) or final year (Diploma/Associates)

Proof of continued enrollment and passing grades
