Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an administrative support specialist for the Emergency Department at UAB St. Vincent's Chilton in Clanton, AL. The full-time night shift runs 7pm–7am, supporting clerical and administrative tasks in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, routing calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient charts, with additional duties around meeting coordination and timekeeping updates. BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant experience required.
• BLS Provider preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, file, distribute mail and perform general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians and healthcare team about patient care per protocol; schedule patients for appointments in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through order entry, transfers and discharges; assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Coordinate meetings; schedule rooms; send notices; maintain meeting minutes; manage timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.
