Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking an Emergency Department Technician (EDT) to join the Woodwinds Hospital team in Woodbury, MN. The role supports nurses, transports patients and supplies, and helps maintain patient rooms in a fast-paced ED environment.

The position requires BLS plus one of several clinical certifications or enrollment in an approved program, with prior patient care experience and a nursing assistant training background preferred.

Qualifications

• Current EMT or ERT certification.
• Current Paramedic certification.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the MN Registry.
• Enrolled in an LPN, RN, or NP program (with at least 1 completed clinical semester).
• Six months of recent hands-on patient care experience (acute, long-term, or home care).
• Completed Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
• LPN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients by wheelchair and cart.
• Assists patients with ambulation and positioning.
• Informs RN of patient/family observations and concerns.
• Promptly responds to patient call lights/requests.
• Demonstrates concern for patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Performs tasks with adaptations or modifications for patient ages and development.
• Obtains ordered specimens from patient.
• Transports specimens and blood products.
• Demonstrates adherence to proper procedures.
• Assists in resuscitation.
• Functions as nurse extender: assists nurses with patient care activities.
• Documents patient care activities and procedures on the nursing records.
