Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department in Norfolk, VA is seeking a qualified Emergency Department Technician for on-site, night-shift work. The role supports physicians and nurses in emergency care, performing procedures under supervision and completing required de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, EMT-B or clinical program enrollment with relevant certifications, and BLS certification

• EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR
• Current student enrolled in clinical program (RN/LPN/Respiratory) with at least one semester completed.
• Prior Sentara ED tech experience considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.

Overview

Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Emergency Department Technician. This position is on-site in Norfolk, Virginia. Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse. De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire. BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.

Certification / Licensure

New incumbents must have one of the following in addition to the minimum Education :

1. EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR
2. Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR
3. Current student enrolled in clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester within the program.

Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $20.07 - $29.88 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
