Job summary

The Emergency Department Technician II at Medical University of South Carolina reports to the Nurse Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to perform multi-skilled tasks that support a patient-centered approach to care and desired outcomes. This role requires a high school diploma or GED with related healthcare experience or enrollment, and a current BLS certification.

Hours are 24 per week, with two 12-hour night shifts, weekends and holidays, in a fast-paced ED

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with relevant healthcare experience or enrollment.
• BLS certification required and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Provide multi-skilled support under RN supervision to patients.
• Assist in patient-centered care to achieve outcomes.
• Rotate nights with weekends and holidays as part of the schedule.

Education

High school diploma or GED

ED Technician I (1 year .6 FTE MUSC)

Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, CMA, Paramedic, CPT

Military medical occupation experience

Inpatient hospital experience (1 year)

College degree

Active nursing school enrollment with Nursing Fundamentals

Active enrollment in healthcare-related field
