The role supports physicians and nurses in emergency and minor care, performing procedures under supervision and completing required training, including de-escalation and physical intervention within 15 days.

Healthcare professionals with EMT-B certification and BLS within 90 days are prioritized; current students in clinical programs and prior Sentara

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR military Hospital Corps School OR current student in clinical program (RN/LPN/Respiratory/PT) having completed at least one semester.
  • Prior Sentara ED tech experience in the past two years will be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients.
  • Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse.
  • De-escalation and physical intervention training is required within 15 days of hire.
