OSF HealthCare is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to function as a member of the ED patient care team under supervision of the registered nurse. The technician performs basic patient care tasks to support comfort, safety and observation, including vital signs, specimen collection, ECGs and wound care.

Qualified candidates have a High School diploma or GED; BLS, CNA and EMT-B licenses are required or current in the state.

Qualificações

• REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School or GED.
• Licenses/Certifications: American Heart Association BLS for healthcare provider CPR; CNA license; EMT-B license (Illinois).

This is an Hourly position. Shift differentials included 2nd shift - $1.75/hr. 3rd shift - $2.50/hr.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Emergency Department Technician functions as a member of the emergency department patient care team, under supervision of the registered nurse. The emergency department technician I performs basic patient care procedures to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of patients, including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, performing ECG's, post-mold application, crutch-walk teaching, spinal immobilization, basic wound care, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts and communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• High School/GED

Licenses/Certifications

• American Heart Associate BLS for healthcare provider CPR
• Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Work, OR; EMT-B, License in the State of Illinois

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 or more months experience in a clinical healthcare environment
• Able to communicate effectively in person; by telephone; and computer messaging
• 6 or more months experience in supporting physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of patients
