Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to join the patient care team in Illinois. The role includes vital signs, daily living assistance, specimen collection, ECGs, and safety monitoring, under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include charting, communication with team for continuity of care, and basic wound care. Qualified candidates have HS/GED, BLS, CNA or EMT-B credentials, and clinical experience.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School/GED.
• Licenses/Certifications: American Heart Association BLS for healthcare provider CPR; CNA (OR); EMT-B (IL).
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 6+ months experience in a clinical healthcare environment; effective communication; ability to support physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of patients.

• Take vital signs and monitor patient status.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Record information in patient charts and communicate with the care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Support basic wound care and assist with mobility and safety.

Expected pay for this position is $18.98 - $22.34/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Emergency Department Technician functions as a member of the emergency department patient care team, under supervision of the registered nurse. The emergency department technician I performs basic patient care procedures to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of patients, including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, performing ECG's, post-mold application, crutch-walk teaching, spinal immobilization, basic wound care, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts and communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High School/GED

Licenses/Certifications:

• American Heart Associate BLS for healthcare provider CPR
• Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Work, OR; EMT-B, License in the State of Illinois

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 6 or more months experience in a clinical healthcare environment
• Able to communicate effectively in person; by telephone; and computer messaging
• 6 or more months experience in supporting physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of patients
