Job summary

Stamford Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support patient care in a fast-paced ED. You will work 10am-11pm, 3 shifts per week with rotating holidays and weekends, under supervision of physicians, PAs and RNs.

Responsibilities include preparing patients for visits, assisting in examinations, drawing blood, handling labs, and documenting care in the EMR. BLS certification and CPI/MOAB de-escalation training provided during orientation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant diploma/program with national certification required on hire.
• EMT-B certification required on hire.
• CNA certification with two+ years ED experience or nursing student status acceptable.
• Strong computer skills and comfort with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the Emergency Department under physician/PA/RN supervision.
• Assist in examinations and care delivery, prepare specimens, run point-of-care tests, draw blood, and assist with imaging as needed.
• Document patient care in the electronic medical record and maintain patient flow in the ED.
• Support education and training of staff, students, and volunteers and participate in performance improvement activities.
• Maintain a safe, confidential, and compliant work environment according to policies and regulations.
