Job summary

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley is seeking an Emergency Room/Urgent Care Technician to support nursing staff by documenting vitals, preparing dressings and transporting specimens as directed. Qualifications

• 6 months of Emergency Room/Urgent Care Technician experience or EMT-related position
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Attention to detail
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Code of Ethics and patient care standards

Responsibilities

• Check and document vital signs as directed by RN or physician
• Perform simple dressing and maintain clean technique as ordered
• Obtain, label and transport specimens (blood, urine, feces, sputum) as assigned
• Answer patient call lights and relay needs to appropriate staff
• Escalate needs to RN or physician as appropriate
• Assist in identification of reportable cases
• Remove soiled linens and replace as needed
• Ensure equipment is removed, disposed of and/or cleaned after use
• Attend meetings and in-service programs as assigned
• Provide education to improve health outcomes and involve patient family in care decisions as directed by RN/Physician
• Provide discharge instruction support as written by the Physician and directed by the RN
