Job summary

Frederick Health Emergency Department Tech is a full-time, on-site position supporting Registered Nurses in a fast-paced 60-bed ED. The role includes vital signs, patient assistance, and assisting with monitoring and procedures.

It emphasizes patient privacy and adherence to hospital policies and compliance requirements. You'll join a Magnet-recognized hospital with a history of awards and a large patient volume, contributing to rapid diagnostics, stroke care, and cardiac services.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
• Completion of skill competency checklists.
• Completion of departmental competencies within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records patient’s vital signs and weight.
• Assists patients to disrobe providing privacy and care of personal possessions.
• Initiates cardiac monitoring and performs 12 Lead EKGs as directed.
• Performs venipuncture, inserts and/or discontinues IV catheters, obtains venous blood specimens.
• Performs orthopedic splinting including cast application, crutch fitting, teaching, and fitting of other devices.
• Performs point of care testing as directed.
• Performs blood glucose monitoring as directed.
• Assists in morgue care.
• Assists in transferring a patient to diagnostic areas using a stretcher or wheelchair.
• Assists in preparing a patient for discharge or transfer.
