Job summary

McLeod Health seeks a dedicated healthcare support professional to assist nursing staff in delivering patient care. Under direct supervision, you will take vitals, assist with wound care, and help with surgical procedures as needed.

You will support departmental operations, maintain supplies, and perform clerical tasks while ensuring a compassionate environment for patients and families. The role may involve transporting patients and aiding with nutrition and hygiene actions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Phlebotomy, CNA, or EMT certification or 1 year clinical experience.
  • CPI certification within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist under licensed nurse to meet patients' treatment needs, including taking vitals and wound care.
  • Assist with surgical procedures as required by physician or nurse.
  • Support department operations, maintain supplies, and perform clerical duties.
  • Transport patients within hospital (ICU, ED, Radiology) and to rooms as needed.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of patients and environment.
  • Provide nutrition/hydration support (feeding and fluids).
  • May be floated to other departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Assists with transportation of patients in and out of the ICU, ED, transportation to Radiology and in case of admission transport to patient’s room.
  • Initiates and maintains the hygiene/cleanliness of the patients, the patient’s environment, and the unit environment.
  • Performs or assists with performing nutritional/hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, or snacks).
  • May be floated to other hospital departments as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
