Job summary

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. The RN will assume accountability as defined by ANA standards and work as a full partner on the health care team in a Level I trauma center setting.

The position requires nights, 36 hours per week, on-call and rotating weekends/holidays. The team handles 300–400 patients daily, from minor issues to life-threatening emergencies, with a focus on safe, evidence-based care.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required by PA Board of Nursing.
• BSN or higher degree required.
• Completion of Nurse Residency Program or 15+ months of practice.
• CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
• Active license in good standing with Medicare/Medicaid and other programs.
• Ability to function in unit plans and care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care through the nursing process and therapy coordination.
• Performs patient assessments focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive functions.
• Evaluates progress and updates the plan of care as trends emerge.
• Educates patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
• Leads and coordinates care across disciplines and team members.
• Ensures safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in care delivery.
