Job summary

Healthier-Mississippi-People-LLC is seeking a Registered Nurse to assess, develop, implement and evaluate nursing care in an assigned clinical area. You will coordinate patient scheduling, admissions, and records while counseling patients and families on treatment and conditions.

You will act as a liaison among case managers, home health nurses, and utilization review, participate in nursing councils or committees, and perform duties to support safe, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• Knowledge of clinical nursing care procedures and protocols.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating treatments and interventions for patients.
• Educates patients and family members on the nature and status of the patient’s condition, diet and medication/treatment side effects.
• Ensures patient safety.
• Coordinates referrals to other services within and outside of the unit.
• Maintains accurate patient records.
• Functions as a preceptor per UMMC guidelines.
• Reports patient issues to supervisor as appropriate.
• Participates in nursing councils, hospital committees, task forces or project teams to improve care or the work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
