Job summary

UPMC Altoona is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Emergency Department to join a unionized team. This .9 FTE position covers day and night shifts with six weekend rotations every six weeks and holiday coverage, in a 36-hour weekly schedule.

Both new graduates and experienced RNs are encouraged to apply, with orientation and ongoing professional development supported. Starting pay varies by education and experience, with BSN typically at $35.50/hour and non-BSN at $34.00/hour, plus a $15,000 sign-on

Responsibilities

• Provide Direct Care: Use nursing protocols and standards to perform and document procedures safely. Administer medications and IV therapy following policy.
• Assess and Reassess: Evaluate and document patient and family needs; reassess every eight hours or as needed.
• Plan Care: Involve patients and families in creating care plans; coordinate with community agencies and other professionals.
