Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 6 months or more of related customer service experience in a professional, financial or health care related environment.
• Strong attention to detail and proven ability to gather and analyze data.
• Proficiency with computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and an ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient/visitors/family requests and direct to the appropriate areas in a timely manner.
• Verify insurance benefits to determine if insurance will reimburse UI Health Care for services and ensure data accuracy.
• Determine insurance status and enter information accurately into the Billing system with high accuracy.
• Confirm co-pay amount and collect from patient with safe cash handling procedures.
• Prioritize workload and work collaboratively with clinical staff in processing paperwork and requests.
• Complete Medicare Secondary payer questionnaire and identify referral and prior authorization needs.
• Coordinate with internal resources to assist with financial aid and inquiries.
• Answer multiple incoming telephone lines and direct to appropriate parties.
• Facilitate securing patient signatures on required forms (e.g., HIPAA Consent).
