Job summary

Creative Solutions Services, LLC seeks an Emergency Department Registered Nurse for a 14-week traveler assignment in West Allis, WI. The RN will work 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730) with a 0.9 FTE, joining a Level IV Trauma Center with NICU and Primary Stroke Center capabilities.

The role requires ED experience, strong IV and cardiac skills, and certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS; NIHSS preferred. On-site work with preceptor onboarding and a 6-week rotation cycle.

Qualifications

• RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS; TNCC preferred.
• ED Tech: BLS required.
• RN: 2–5 yrs ED experience; 1 yr ED in past year for traveler.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in ED during Night Shift.
• Assist with monitoring, IVs, and procedures.
• Collaborate with ED team on patient flow and bed management.
• Follow hospital policies and safety protocols.

Will you accept a traveler with 1 year experience:

• RN: 2-5 yrs nursing experience, must have 1 yr ED experience within past year
• ED Tech: 1 yr ED experience

Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes, with 3 years ED experience

Patient Types:

• Neonates to Geriatric
• 5%-8% pediatrics
• Chest pain, dizziness, syncope, strokes, sepsis, ortho, resp distress/failure, STEMI, COVID
• Behavioral Health-Med Clearance

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 1:3-4 Days, 1:3-4 Nights
• ED Tech: 2-4 Techs/Shift, 1 Tech 0300-0700

Required Certifications:

• RN: Required- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS; (TNCC preferred)
• ED Tech: Required- BLS

Skills required

• RN: General ED Skills, Strong IV Skills, Cardiac rhythm interpretation/monitoring, foley placement/management, NGT placement/management, knowledgeable in STEMI/CVA/Sepsis treatments, medication titration
• ED Tech: Strong phlebotomy skills (required), splinting (ortho glass), perform EKGs, CS, POC testing, assist with collection specimens (stool, urine), placing patients on tele monitor, assist in turning patients (ED boarding)

Support on the Unit:

• Receptionist/HUC: 24/7
• Charge nurse: will take a patient assignment as needed, will cover low acuity patients
• ED Educator: (M-F)
• Phlebotomy: assist with peripheral blood draws as needed
• Resource Nurse: Flow Nurse- during peak hours
• RT: 24/7
• Hospitalist/PA: 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring: Bedside and at the nurses station, no tele tech
• Sitter/transporter on PMs and NOCS- to be added
• Clinical operations technician- to be added

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC (required within the last 2 years)
• IV pumps: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors:

Floating: If yes, where:

• RN:
  • Based on facility needs

  • Will work as helping hands, taskers, sitters, runners

• First couple hours meet with NM, Supervisor for NEO onboarding, remainder of shift on the unit with preceptor
