Job summary

UPMC Northwest is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician - Specialist for the Emergency Department. The role supports nurses in daily care, vital signs collection, specimen handling, and patient safety in a fast-paced ED environment.

Responsibilities include ADLs, EKGs assistance, IVs and basic procedures as needed, with opportunities to perform advanced skills depending on department needs.

Qualifications

• Understanding of cultural diversity and safety in healthcare settings.
• Strong communication and teamwork with patients, families and staff.
• Be capable of basic ADLs and patient care under RN supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and basic patient care tasks.
• Respond to call lights, transport patients, and support unit operations.
• Perform/assist with assessments, IVs, phlebotomy and basic procedures as directed.
