Job summary

UPMC Kane is seeking a casual Emergency Department Patient Services Representative to support patient access and registration. The role involves greeting patients, educating them about copayments, and connecting them with financial advocacy resources, while updating demographics and insurance coverage information.

The position supports the ED operations 7 days a week during 6:30am–10:30pm with at least 16 hours of availability per pay period, including some weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills and healthcare exposure preferred.
• Ability to explain insurance and patient financial obligations clearly.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients on arrival and promote patient-friendly technologies.
• Register patients accurately into hospital systems when needed.
• Verify insurance eligibility and discuss financial responsibility with patients.
• Collect patient payments including copayments and deductibles.
• Maintain patient demographics and insurance information with HIPAA compliance.
