Job summary

WMCH Weirton Medical Center is hiring a patient care technician to assist with basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes helping with admissions, transfers, discharges, mobility, and daily hygiene to support safe, quality care.

The position requires a high school diploma and BLS certification within 30 days. Preference given to graduates of CNA/PCT programs or current nursing students.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: graduate of a nurse assistant or patient care technician training program.
• Preferred: hospital-based Patient Care Technician program completion within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: current nursing student or 6 months patient care tech experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow established plan of patient care.
• Assist with admission, transfer, discharge and transportation of patients.
• Collect and record vital signs as instructed by the nurse.
• Provide basic care including bathing, hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and stock supplies; practice sterile technique.
• Respond to patient needs and safety signals; document observations.
