Job summary

Edward Elmhurst Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department at Elmhurst Hospital. The role is full time with a 36-hour work week on the evening shift from 3pm to 3am, requiring rotating holidays and weekends.

The incumbent will work under an RN, performing patient care tasks to ensure patient comfort and safety according to established procedures. CPR certification is required; EMT-B certification is preferred and prior patient care experience or CNA training is

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• EMT-B certification preferred.
• Six months of patient care experience or CNA training completed, or one nursing clinical rotation.
• Successful completion of relevant care companion or EMT-related coursework within six months if required by department.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care tasks under the direction of an RN.
• Provide care, comfort and safety to patients.
• Prioritize patient needs and follow established procedures.
• Document activities as required by the unit.
