Job summary

The Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Association is seeking an Emergency Department Patient Access Representative to ensure timely, courteous, and accurate collection of patient information for ED admissions. This on-site role serves as the point of contact for internal and external parties and supports registration for ED and outpatient services.

Responsibilities include answering phones, registering patients, stocking rooms, assisting with daily living activities, and communicating patient needs

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years experience in a patient care setting preferred.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
  • CPI certification within the first year of employment.
  • CNA or EMT certification from Nebraska required.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate departments.
  • Register patients for ED and outpatient radiology and laboratory services.
  • Stock rooms and supply carts.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living as needed.
  • Communicate patient care needs and changes to the RN.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the department and patient rooms.
  • Coordinate patient room turnover to support timely flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Emergency Department Patient Access Representative is responsible for timely, courteous, and accurate collection of patient information to admit patients into the Emergency Department services. As the point of contact for internal and external parties, this individual will be responsible for:

  • Answering phones and directing calls to appropriate departments.
  • Registration for facility departments including emergency department and outpatient procedures for radiology and laboratory services.
  • Stocking rooms and supply carts.
  • Assists patient with activities of daily living as patient needs require.
  • Communicating patient care needs, changes in condition, observations and responses to the appropriate RN.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of department and patient rooms.
  • Coordinates patient room turnover to support timely patient flow between patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • EDUCATION: GED or High School Diploma required.
  • EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years experience in a patient care setting preferred.
  • CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of hire required.
  • CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification within first year of employment required.
  • CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from the State of Nebraska or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification from the State of Nebraska required.
