Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Paramedic for the Emergency Department on a part-time, variable/rotating shift schedule. You will work under RN/Physician supervision, perform procedures, monitor vitals, and assist with exams and treatments.

The role requires Iowa EMT-Paramedic licensure, active BLS certification, and Advanced Life Support certifications (ACLS/PALS to be completed before orientation). Prior paramedic or patient-care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
• Licensed EMT-Paramedic in the state of Iowa is required.
• ACLS and PALS must be obtained prior to orientation.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications and injections as ordered; follows standing orders.
• Maintains patient flow and room turnover in the Emergency Department.
• Prepares patients for examination and assists with diagnostic procedures.
• Monitors vital signs and documents health statistics.
• Assists with IV/IO access, EKGs, and basic life support procedures.
• Transports patients and provides care during transitions.
