Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Janesville seeks an Emergency Department patient care aide to join our 40-hour weekly night shift team. This entry-level role supports nurses, helps with patient transport, and ensures timely response to calls and admissions.

Ideal candidates bring a high school diploma or GED, CNA/EMT-B or equivalent experience, and a patient-first attitude. No prior ED experience required, training provided on-site.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• CNA or EMT-B certification preferred.
• Patient care experience in healthcare setting desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assists in collecting labs, coordinating patient flow with radiology to aid turnaround times.
• Responds to patient requests for assistance and call lights; assists with transfers and vital signs.
• Assists RN with exams and specimen collection; supports room turnover and equipment restocking.
• Obtains EKGs for emergent/urgent cases as able; delivers supplies and performs routine cleaning duties.
