Overview

Position: Emergency Department Education Specialist RN

Location: Houston, TX

Salary Range: $33.60 - $48.73/hour

Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in the teaching/learning process and assist management and clinical staff in developing educational programs.
• Utilize Prophecy Assessments to identify learning needs and assist in planning learning activities with nurse managers, clinical nurse specialists, educators, quality coordinators, and preceptors.
• Develop and perform needs assessments collaboratively to determine educational needs.
• Assess critical thinking, interpersonal relations, and technical skills to support staff development and orientation.
• Communicate effectively with staff to facilitate development of clinical, management, and research skills.
• Promote career advancement through mentorship and support of clinical ladder and differentiated practice.
• Coordinate preceptor and mentor programs with management.
• Develop, revise, and implement cost-effective, outcomes-driven educational programs and materials.
• Plan and direct new employee orientation.
• Lead and participate in quality and performance enhancement activities, monitoring educational outcomes.
• Integrate research findings into practice, education, and policy updates.
• Participate in unit-based research projects to advance nursing knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• Registered Nurse license and BLS certification required
• Minimum three (3) years of clinical education experience
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire through the American Heart Association
