Job summary

Cayuga Health in Ithaca seeks an Emergency Department Technician at Cayuga Medical Center. The role supports nurses in direct patient care, patient transport, and safety monitoring in a fast-paced ED. It requires a HS diploma, basic life support training during onboarding, and preferred prior patient care experience.

Shift coverage includes 3 twelve-hour periods with rotation of holidays and weekends; onsite work, competitive hourly pay, and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Will obtain BLS during introductory period.
• Prior patient assessment and care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist nurse with direct patient care in the ED.
• Take and report vital signs in a timely manner.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers and ADLs.
• Ensure bedside area is clean and safe for patients.
• Perform 12-lead EKG and basic venipuncture as ordered.
• Transport patients and specimens as needed.
• Monitor patients for safety and respond to changes promptly.
