Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a part-time Emergency Department Patient Care Aide for 0.3 FTE, evening shifts in Morgantown. The role provides nonprofessional and some direct patient care under supervision of a registered nurse or licensed provider.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and BLS certification within 30 days of hire. Preferred candidates have EMT/Paramedic licensure or ACLS/PALS credentials where applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Experience options include 1 year post high school education in related fields, current enrollment, or 6 months ED/pre-hospital care experience.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient condition changes to a registered nurse.
• Assist with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs and monitor intake/output; assist with hygiene and comfort.
• Assist in specimen collection and maintain infection control practices.
• Support department operations and relay messages to appropriate staff.
